How to Remove Lashes Without Pulling
WHY PULLING YOUR LASHES OFF IS A BAD IDEA
I'll be honest. When I first started wearing false lashes, I pulled them off the second I got home. Not just because I was tired — I actually thought it was faster. Then after a month, my natural lashes started looking patchy. My lash line had tiny gaps. I had to use serum for three months to fix it.
Pulling doesn't just remove the false lash. It takes healthy natural lashes with it. A single pull can pull out two or three of your real lashes. Do that every night for one week, and you will see a difference.
THE RIGHT WAY: 7 GENTLE STEPS
- Wash your hands. This is not optional. Your natural lashes are sensitive.
- Soak a cotton pad with oil-based makeup remover. Coconut oil, if that's what you have, works in a pinch.
- Press the pad against your closed eye for 20 seconds. Do not rub. The adhesive will break down from the moisture.
- Lift the cotton pad away slowly. The lash should start to separate from the band.
- If it doesn't, press again for another 10 seconds. Do not tug.
- When you feel the lash loosen, gently peel from the inner corner to the outer corner, keeping the lash flat against your finger.
- Once the lash is off, use a clean cotton swab with remover to wipe any remaining adhesive off your lash line and the lash band itself.
This method takes about 60 seconds. That's not much longer than pulling, and your natural lashes will stay strong.
WHAT TO DO AFTER REMOVAL
Your lashes just lost some glue. Give them a break. Clean your lash line with water, then pat dry. If you wear lashes daily, try to have two no-lash days a week. Your natural lashes need time to breathe.
Also, store your false lashes in their original case. The lash band will stay curled, and you'll get more wears out of them.
YOUR REMOVAL QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Can I remove lashes with just warm water?
If you're using a water-based adhesive, yes. But most long-wear adhesives need an oil-based remover.
What if I pull my lashes off by accident at night?
Don't beat yourself up. Just apply a lash serum or coconut oil to your lash line to keep the area nourished.
How often should I replace my false lashes?
If you care for them and remove them gently, you can get 5 to 10 wears. If they lose their shape, replace them.
Removing your lashes gently means they last longer, and your natural lashes stay where they belong. After one week of this routine, you'll feel the difference in your lash line — no gaps, no redness, no regret.
