The best solvent for lash glue is a pure, oil-based makeup remover or a dedicated lash glue remover. The specific oil that works best is one that is lightweight and does not leave a greasy residue. Look for ingredients like these:

• Grapeseed oil - lightweight, breaks down adhesive quickly
• Jojoba oil - closest to natural skin sebum, gentle and effective
• Castor oil - thicker, works well but takes a few more seconds
• Squalane - non-comedogenic, very effective on stubborn glue

If you have a dedicated lash glue remover, those are typically formulated with a blend of these oils plus a solvent called isododecane. This is the gold standard. It is fast-acting and evaporates quickly, leaving your lashes clean.

THE PROPER REMOVAL STEP-BY-STEP

Do not pull. Do not peel. Do not rub. Here is the only method you should use.

1. Apply the oil-based remover to a cotton pad. Make sure the pad is saturated but not dripping.
2. Press the pad against your closed eyelid. Hold it there for 30 to 45 seconds. Do not rub. The soaking time is what dissolves the glue.
3. Gently slide the lash off. After the soak, the lash should slide off with minimal resistance. If it does not slide, do not pull. Apply more remover and wait another 20 seconds.
4. Clean the false lash band. Once the lash is off, use a cotton swab dipped in the same remover to gently wipe away any remaining glue from the band. Do not use your fingernails to pick at it. The oil will dissolve it.
5. Rinse and dry. Rinse the false lash with cool water to remove any oil residue. Pat it dry with a paper towel. Do not rub. Re-shape the lash on its original tray.

WHY THIS IS THE ONLY SAFE METHOD

Your natural lashes are precious. They have a growth cycle of about 90 days. If you pull them out, it takes weeks to grow back. The soaking method ensures that the adhesive bond dissolves before you apply any force. This protects your natural lash health. It also preserves the integrity of the false lash band. A thin lash band can survive many uses if you clean it properly.

WHAT IF THE GLUE IS ON MY SKIN, NOT THE LASH?

This happens when you get glue on your eyelid during application. Do not panic. Apply the oil-based remover to a cotton swab and press it on the glue spot. Hold for 10 seconds. The glue should soften and roll off. If it does not, repeat. Never pick at glue on your skin. It will pull your skin.

HOW DO I PREVENT GLUE ACCUMULATION IN THE FIRST PLACE?

The best way to reduce glue removal hassle is to apply a thinner layer of adhesive. You only need a thin, even coat. A thick layer creates a bigger ball of glue that is harder to remove. Also, always wait for the glue to get tacky before you apply the lash. This ensures the glue bonds to the lash and your skin, not just to itself.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A LASH GLUE REMOVER

If you want to invest in a dedicated remover, look for these qualities. It should be oil-based, not water-based. It should not contain alcohol, which can dry out the lash band and make it brittle. It should come with a dropper or a pump for easy application. And it should be fragrance-free. Fragrance can irritate your eye area.
