How to Choose long-lasting wear for photoshoot

Last spring, I did a photoshoot at 3pm. The client asked for lashes that survive an outdoor session, a wardrobe change, and a champagne toast. At 9pm, her lashes were still exactly where I placed them.

The client had a pair of lashes that fell off during her engagement shoot. She thought it was the glue. When I looked at them, the band had bowed away from her lash line because it was too stiff.

Long-lasting wear isn't mostly about glue. It's about the lash band flexing with your eye movement, plus the vapor-permeable material that lets the adhesive bond properly. You need a lash that moves like a contact lens — grippy but invisible.

WHY SOME LASHES FAIL BY THE END OF A SHOOT

HOW TO TEST LONG-LASTING WEAR BEFORE THE BIG DAY

Wear them for at least 6 continuous hours at home.
Do a workout or take a hot shower while wearing a pair (without getting the lashed face wet).
Look down and blink for 30 seconds. Lash should stay flush against your line.
Press your finger to your outer corner and gently push. A stiff band will pop up; a flexible one will recover.

That test takes about a week to complete, but it's worth it. You never want to discover a failure on set.

When you're shopping, ask these questions or check the spec:

Band material: is it 'lightweight' or 'ultra-flexible'?
Curl memory: will the curl stay for 12 hours?
Fibers: are they 'flattened' or 'tapered'? Tapered creates less drag.
Weight: under 0.4g is the threshold I recommend.
