THE REAL RULE: YOU’RE MARRIED FOR 12 HOURS, NOT 5 MINUTES

The ceremony is the shortest part of your day. The reception is where you laugh, cry happy tears, eat, dance, and get photographed from every angle in changing light.

That means your lash needs to deliver three different looks: exposed natural daylight, dim ballroom lighting, and close-up flash photography. A heavy bridal lash that looks dramatic in the bathroom mirror can look like a black curtain at the altar.

The solution: choose a lash that reads as natural in daylight and “bride-like” in photos. That means a tapered, wispy look with a clear band. No, it won’t look as dramatic in the package. But it will look like you — just elevated.

HOW TO TEST YOUR WEDDING LASHES AT HOME

1. Put your full wedding makeup on and apply the lashes.
2. Take a photo indoors with flash at under 3 feet.
3. Take a photo outdoors in natural light.
4. Video record yourself blinking and turning your head.
5. Immediately look at the photos. Does the eye lash dominate your face?
