WHY LASHES LOSE THEIR FLUFF

False lashes are made of many fine fibers glued or fused along a band. When they get wet, the fibers cling together and the curl relaxes. If you rub them dry, the fibers break and stay tangled. Even high-end lashes need a little help to regain their shape.

The other culprit is the natural oil from your skin. Oil coats the fibers and makes them stiff. That's why a lash always looks better the day after its first clean.

HOW TO FLUFF LASHES IN 3 STEPS

Ready? Here's the exact method I use after every single clean.

Air dry completely. Let the lashes sit on a flat surface for at least 20 minutes. Never put lashes in a closed container while they're wet.
Hold the lash by the band and run a spoolie through the fibers. Start at the inner corner and brush upward and outward in a flicking motion. Do this 5-6 times.
Steam the curl back. Boil a kettle, hold the lashes about 30cm from the steam for 2-3 seconds. Immediately brush them again. The steam re-opens the fibers and restores the original curl.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED (YOU PROBABLY HAVE IT)

A clean mascara spoolie (use one that doesn't have residue)
Your normal lash brush or a clean soft toothbrush
A kettle or a hot shower
Nothing else — no oils, no sprays, no special tools

If you don't have a spoolie, lightly tap the lashes against your palm after steaming. That alone can separate the fibers. Just work gently.
