HOW TO GET LASH GLUE OUT OF YOUR REAL LASHES

how to get lash glue out of your real lashes

It's 2am. You just realized you fell asleep without taking your lashes off. The corner is lifting, but the middle is cemented to your natural lash like construction glue. You panic-pick at it. I've done exactly that—and I pulled out five of my own natural lashes in the process. My eyes looked... changed. Not in a "beautiful transformation" way. In a "what happened to you" way. This is the nightmare scenario, and it's entirely avoidable.

WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN LASH GLUE IS STUCK

Before we get to the solution, here's what makes everything worse (I've tested all three, unfortunately):

  • DON'T yank the lash off in one motion. You'll take real lashes with it.
  • DON'T use oil-based makeup remover directly on your natural lashes. It dissolves the glue, yes, but it also breaks down the structure of your natural lash follicle.
  • DON'T press a soaked cotton pad onto your eye and scrub. Friction is the enemy. You're rubbing a fragile area with a saturated pad.

Take a breath. You have options that don't involve losing your natural lashes.

THE 5-STEP REMOVAL THAT ACTUALLY WORKS

Here's the method that works, step by step:

  1. Soften the glue with warm (not hot!) water. Run a shower, or place a warm damp cloth over your closed eyes for 1–2 minutes. This softens the adhesive without breaking down your natural lashes.
  2. Apply a gentle oil-based remover along the band. A cotton tip dipped in remover (or even coconut oil in a pinch) works. Swipe along the band. Don't drench your eye.
  3. Wait 30 seconds. Let the remover dissolve the glue. This is the step people skip, and the step that makes all the difference.
  4. Gently lift from the outer corner. The outer corner of the lash band is flattest and least likely to take real lashes with it. Work inward slowly.
  5. If you meet resistance, stop and repeat steps 2–3. It should take 2–3 minutes total. If it's taking longer, you're rushing it.

You can remove lash glue WITHOUT losing a single natural lash. Patience is the secret ingredient.

AFTERCARE: YOUR NATURAL LASHES NEED A MINUTE

Once the lashes are off, your real lashes deserve some love:

  • Wash your lash line with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser
  • Brush your lashes with a spoolie to detangle
  • Apply a lash serum or castor oil before bed for the next few nights
  • Give yourself 48 hours before your next pair of false lashes

Your natural lashes are working hard. Treat them like the VIPs they are.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is it bad to sleep in false lashes?

Yes. It's one of the worst things you can do for your natural lashes. It causes shedding, irritation, and can even lead to lash follicle damage.

Can I get lash glue off with water alone?

No. Water doesn't break down lash adhesive. You need an oil-based remover or a gentle makeup remover specifically designed for lash glue.

What if my lashes are still stuck after 5 minutes?

Stop. Apply more remover and wait longer. Forcing it is how you lose natural lashes.

I've been wearing false lashes for over a decade, and I've learned that the best lash experience is one where removal is as easy as application. The PHANSTA LASHES line uses a gentle, latex-free adhesive that releases with just a bit of remover—no cement, no wrestling, no lost natural lashes. Your natural lashes should never feel like a battleground. The right pair of falsies should make you feel better—and come off without a fight.
