She had a beauty pouch so heavy it could've doubled as a dumbbell. For a weekend trip, she'd pack three different lash glues—one for humidity, one for oily lids, one "holy grail" that still failed—plus a magnifying mirror to fix them. Just the lashes and glue took up a third of her carry-on.
That glue didn't even survive airport security. TSA pulled out her favorite tube at JFK and tossed it in the trash. She had to settle for a $9 drugstore strip with visible plastic bands. One of them lifted during the flight. By baggage claim, she was gluing it back on in the restroom.
And on a trip to Santorini, the humidity did her in. Mid-dinner, her lashes started peeling at the inner corner. She excused herself, hid in the bathroom, and prayed no one noticed. "I literally told everyone I had something in my eye," she says. "I could not wait to get home and never deal with that nonsense again."
