HOW TO NAIL THE LASH CURVE BEFORE IT DRIES
WHY YOUR LASHES DROOP (IT'S NOT THE GLUE)
If your lashes look tired right after application, you're not alone—and it's not the adhesive's fault. Your lash line has a natural arc: higher in the middle and gently sloping at the outer corner. A flat strip pressed straight on will never follow that arc. The droop is made worse by pressing the corners down first; when you do that, the middle of the band sags. The fix is to shape the lash against your lid during the 20 to 30 seconds when the glue is still wet. Miss that window, and you're stuck with a lash that looks tired before you even walk out the door.
THE 4-STEP CURVE FIX BEFORE GLUE SETS
- Press from the center, not the corners. Place the middle of the band on your lash line first. This lets the natural curve of your lid act as a mold. Press gently for 5 seconds.
- Lift the outer edge with your pinky. Use your other hand to lift the outer corner of the strip slightly upward and toward your temple. Hold for 10 seconds. This is where the cat-eye arc gets created.
- Pinch the curve. With your thumb and index finger, gently pinch the lash band and your natural lashes together, rolling the strip upward. This presses the curve into the glue while it's still flexible.
- Cool down. Dip your fingertips in cold water and press along the band for 10 seconds. The cold shocks the glue into setting, locking in the curve.
This four-step method takes about 40 seconds in total. If you rush it, you'll lose the curve. Practice it once at home before you try it on a night out.
YOUR CURVE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
How long after applying do I actually have to adjust the curve?
Most strip lash glues give you about 20 to 30 seconds of work time. If you wait until the glue feels dry, the band won't move.
Can I use a lash curler after the glue sets?
No. Once the glue is set, a mechanical curler will pull the band away from your lash line. Do all shaping before the glue dries.
Why do my lashes always droop at the outer corner?
Because that's usually the last part you press down. Press the middle first, then lift the outer edge with your pinky while the glue is still wet.
Can I fix a droopy lash after it's fully dry?
Not without starting over. You can slide a tiny amount of new glue under the band and reshape during the wet window.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A LASH THAT HOLDS ITS CURVE
After all that shaping, you still need a band that cooperates. A flimsy band can fold or twist. A too-thick band won't grip your lash line cleanly. Look for a strip with a flexible yet firm base—one that doesn't need three coats of glue to stick. And if the lashes are pre-curved, that helps, but unless the curve matches your natural arc, you'll still need the four steps above.
