WHY WATERY EYES RUIN SOME LASHES

You know the drill: you’re at a stoplight, a gust of wind hits, and there’s a black streak down your cheek before you can even grab a napkin. The cause is often your tears, not your mascara. Saltwater from tears breaks down the adhesive, saturates the band, and turns even beautiful lashes into a smudgy mess.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IF YOU CRY (OR JUST LEAK)

1. Synthetic fibers over mink. Real mink absorbs moisture. PBT polyester doesn't.
2. A thin, non-porous band. If it feels like cotton, water will wreck it.
3. A strong curl at 30–45 degrees. When tears add weight, the curl keeps your eye open.
4. A lash with a shorter inner corner. Less material near your tear duct means less chance of smudging.

CAN YOU APPLY LASHES WITH WET EYES?

It’s better to start with dry, clean lids but have a tissue to blot your lash line during practice runs. Tearing up while applying is normal—press the lash gently with a tissue until the adhesive sets.

DO WATERPROOF LASHES HELP WITH TEARS?

Only if the lash itself is made from synthetic fiber. Truly waterproof adhesive and a synthetic lash together can keep your eyes looking clean even if you cry.

WHICH IS BETTER FOR WATERY EYES: MINK OR SYNTHETIC?

Synthetic, every time. Mink is beautiful and soft, but it’s inherently water-lovable. If your eyes water, you want polymer-based fibers.
