Chloe started with cheap strip lashes and a "waterproof" glue she found online. They lasted about 20 minutes into her spin class. By the time she hit the sprint intervals, the inner corner was peeling off, and she had to blink through the blur of a half-attached lash flopping around. She left the gym with one lash in her locker and $12 worth of adhesive in her hair.
Next came magnetic lashes for a pool day. They felt fine walking out the door, but after two laps, the magnets lost their grip, and she was fiddling with a bent strip on the side of the pool while her friends pretended not to notice. She gave up and spent the afternoon with just mascara—which also ran.
Then she tried a "hot yoga-proof" glue a friend swore by. It wasn't. The heat opened up her pores, the sweat did its thing, and by savasana the lashes were sitting on her cheeks like tiny caterpillars. "I spent the whole class terrified to open my eyes, and still walked out with one lash on my chin," she says.
