Zoe spent years trusting mascara like a loyal friend, but it kept betraying her. She'd pump three or four coats of "waterproof" formula onto her lashes, and by noon it was flaking into her eyes and smudging into raccoon rings. She bought every high-end tube the internet swore by, but none of them survived her commute, her coffee, or her lunch break. Then she tried the at-home strip lash kits with that superglue-smelling adhesive. She'd spend thirty minutes lining them up, blinking through tears, only to have the inner corner pop off while she was reaching for a parking spot.
A lash lift felt like the grown-up answer, but that cost $85 and made her lashes look nice in the mirror, which was great until she saw the photos from her friend's birthday dinner. Her eyes just disappeared on screen. "I did everything right, but the camera still ate my lashes," she says.
