HOW TO MAKE MONOLID LASHES STAY LIFTED ALL DAY
THE MONOLID LASH STRUGGLE IS REAL
You know this moment: the mirror, the lashes, the careful 20-minute placement. And then, an hour later, the outer corner is starting its slow slide toward your cheek. I've been there. The first time I wore falsies with my monolid eyes, I gave up and went back to mascara for two years.
I'm Lina, and I've spent years testing lashes on real eye shapes. Monolids are the ones that make or break a lash formula. But the fix isn't about buying more expensive lashes. It's about knowing how a lash stays up on a flatter lid — and then picking the right curl, band, and technique to make it happen.
WHY YOUR LASHES DROP BY LUNCH
Three things are almost always at play:
- Band weight. Thick, heavy bands on a monolid lid have nothing to grip onto. Gravity takes over, and the whole lash slides forward.
- Curl angle. Soft J or B curls don't have enough upward curve to fight gravity. On a monolid, you need the lash to curl up and away from your eye, not just outward.
- Placement. Sitting the lash directly on your lash line puts pressure on the wrong spot. Monolids work better with the lash anchored slightly above the natural lash line.
THE 5-STEP LIFT-THAT-LASTS TECHNIQUE
Here's the exact routine I use when my own lashes need to stay up from breakfast to bed:
- Curl your natural lashes first. Hold the curler for a full 20 seconds — not 2, not 5. This gives your natural lashes an upward base to meet the false lash.
- Wait for the adhesive to get tacky. After applying a thin line of lash adhesive, wait 60 seconds until it feels like a sticker, not a liquid. If it's wet when it hits your lid, it's already sliding.
- Press at a 45-degree angle, not flat. Most people press false lashes straight down onto the lid. That's pancake pressure. Instead, rest the lash band on the lid and press up toward the ceiling for 5 seconds.
- Anchor the inner corner last. For monolids, start at the outer corner, press upward, then press the inner corner down gently. This creates a lifted look without tugging.
- Press upward with your finger for 10 seconds. Gently push the band up with your fingertip and hold. This sets the curl into the adhesive while it dries.
LASH CURLS THAT HOLD MONOLIDS UP ALL DAY
Not all lashes will work for monolids — and that's OK. The curl type is the biggest difference-maker. Here's how the most common options compare:
| Curl Type | Shape | Monolid Lift | Daily Wear |
|---|---|---|---|
| J curl | Light bend | Low — drops fast | Not recommended |
| B curl | Soft curve | Medium | OK for short wear |
| C curl | Defined curve | Good | Good daily option |
| D curl | Dramatic curve | Excellent | Best for all-day lift |
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A LASH THAT STAYS LIFTED
The good news? You don't need a 40-minute routine or a professional applicator. You just need a lash designed with monolids in mind. After all my testing, the ideal monolid lash does three things: the band is ultra-thin and flexible so it disappears into the lash line; the curl is visible from the side so it creates that lifted eye shape; and the lash has denser fibers at the base rather than just at the tips. When you find that combination, monolids finally hold lashes all day without drooping corners or reapplications.
Your lashes deserve to stay lifted from morning to midnight.
That's exactly why we created PHANSTA LASHES — lightweight, curl-hold lashes built for real eye shapes, including monolids. No droop. No fix-it-by-2pm. Just open, apply, and go.
Monolid Lash FAQ
Can monolids wear any lash style?
Yes, but some curl types and band materials will be more comfortable and longer-lasting than others. Start with C or D curls (they have the most lift) and a thin flexible band.
Do I need to trim lashes for monolid eyes?
Yes. Measure against your eye before applying. If the lash is too long, the outer corner acts like the end of a lever — it will feel heavier and drop faster.
What lash adhesive works best for monolids?
Look for a formula that dries tacky in 60-90 seconds and stays flexible once dry. A stiff "instant hold" glue will crack and pull down as you blink throughout the day.
