Eyebrow vs Lash Tint? Not the Same

Let's settle this immediately: eyebrow tint and lash tint are not the same thing. One is designed to color coarse brow hairs. The other is formulated for the sensitive, fine lashes around your eye. I know this from experience. Years ago, I ran out of lash tint before a shoot, thought 'how different could it be?' and used eyebrow tint. My lashes ended up brittle, my skin got red, and the makeup artist literally asked if I had been crying. So no — they're not interchangeable.

THEIR FORMULAS ARE BUILT FOR DIFFERENT SKINS

Eyebrow tint often contains thicker pigments and higher concentrations of oxidative dyes. That harsh mix is okay on thicker eyebrow skin. Your eyelid skin is the thinnest skin on your body, so lash tint uses a gentler pH and lower dye strength.

THE COLOR SHEET ISN'T THE SAME EITHER

Eyebrow tint commonly comes in browns and lighter tones. Lash tint is usually darker — black or navy — because for lashes you want depth and contrast. If you use eyebrow tint on your lashes, you might end up with interesting grey or red tones. Not the vibe.

WHAT LASH TINT CAN'T DO

A tint can color your lashes black, but it can't make them longer, thicker, or curly. If you are looking for volume, lash tint alone won't satisfy you. You will still have the same short, straight lashes — just darker. That's exactly where false lashes step in.
