How to Reapply Old Lashes: Make Them New

Before you toss them, hear this: most lashes don't die. They just need a care routine — which means you can get more wears out of them WITHOUT spending another dollar.

The second reason is old adhesive residue. Glue hardens into tiny bumps that prevent the band from making flush contact with your skin. And when the band doesn't touch skin? You get that annoying lift in the inner corner. Fix the residue, and you fix the lift.

HOW TO REVIVE OLD LASHES IN 5 STEPS

1. Peel, don't pull. Grip the outer edge of the band and gently peel the glue off. Never tug the lash hairs — they fall out. Give yourself 2 minutes, not 10 seconds.
2. Clean the band with micellar water. Dip a cotton swab in micellar water and run it back and forth along the band. Glue, oil, and dirt dissolve in about 60 seconds.
3. Set the curl with steam. Hold the lashes above a steaming mug for 10 seconds. The heat will reset the lash fibers. Don't touch the hairs while they're hot.
4. Reshape the band. Press the band between your fingers in a gentle curve and hold for 30 seconds. This restores the arch your eye actually needs.
5. Apply fresh adhesive. Use a new coat of lash glue. Wait 30 seconds for the glue to become tacky before applying to your eye.

HOW TO REAPPLY OLD LASHES SO THEY STAY

The way you apply is just as important as the cleanup. Here's what most people get wrong:

• Glue placement: The lash band is about 3mm wide. The glue should go along the middle third of that band — not the outer edges.
• Wait time: If you apply too early, the adhesive is wet and slips. If you wait too long, the adhesive hardens and won't stick. Wait until it feels like a label on a jar.
• Placement: Instead of pressing straight down, place the lash at a 45-degree angle. Press once in the center, then smooth out the inner and outer corners.
