About 20% of women identify as having deep-set eyes. The condition just means your eyes sit further back in the socket, with a more prominent brow bone. This makes the lash line slightly less exposed, so certain lash types dominate your face instead of framing it.

WHAT CURL, LENGTH, AND WEIGHT ACTUALLY WORK FOR DEEP-SET EYES
Curl: use a "D" or "M" curl, not "J". J curls lie nearly flat against the lid. When your lid is shadowed by the brow, a J curl completely disappears. A D curl lifts the lash outward — away from the brow — making the eye look more open. M curls are slightly more open in the center, which is even better for deep-set sockets.
Length: keep it between 8-12mm. Because your brow bone is close to the lash line, anything longer than 12mm risks hitting the bone when you look up. For a safe daily length, 9-10mm is my sweet spot. For parties, go to 12mm but no further.
Weight: choose "light" or "natural" density. Deep-set eyes already have a shadow from the bone. Heavy strips cast an even darker shadow and can give you a raccoon eye in photos. Light-volume lashes add texture without amplifying the shadow.
THE DEEP-SET EYE LASH RULE (FORGIVE ME, IT'S SIMPLE)
- Your lash should sit on your lash line, not on your eyelid skin.
- The peak of the lash should align with the center of your pupil.
- If you look straight ahead and feel the lash touch your eyebrow, it's too long.
- Trim from the outer corner, never the inner.
When you follow those rules, lashes change from being an annoying accessory to being a true enhancement. You will finally be able to wear a bold pair without wondering if it's too much.
