Downturned vs Hooded Eyes: Different Lash Guide

HOW TO TELL IF YOU HAVE DOWN TURNED OR HOODED EYES

First, the single most accurate test you can do right now. Stand under a bright light and look straight into a mirror.

Hooded eyes: your upper eyelid is partially or completely hidden by extra skin when your eyes are open. The crease of your eyelid either vanishes or folds over the lash line.

Downturned eyes: the outer corner of your eye sits lower than the inner corner when your face is relaxed. Your natural lash line angles downward at the edges.

See the difference? Hooded is about a hidden lid, downturned is about the corner dropping. Both make lash placement tricky, but for opposite reasons.

Hooded eyes need lifted, curled outer corners to open up that hidden lid. Downturned eyes need extra length and volume toward the outer third to pull the corner up visually. A lash that works for one will actively fight the other.

If you're somewhere in between, look for a hybrid “natural lift” lash. It should have a tapered inner corner, a clean band, and a flared outer half. That shape does 90% of the work for both eye types.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN AN EVERYDAY LASH PAIR THAT WORKS FOR BOTH
