HOW TO PACK LASHES FOR A TRIP: TRAVEL-FRIENDLY TIPS
TRAVEL IS BRUTAL ON FALSE LASHES
You packed your favorite lashes for your trip. Then you opened your makeup bag at the hotel and found them crushed, bent, or missing. Travel is brutal on false lashes. I learned this the hard way on a 14-hour flight to Tokyo when my favorite pair arrived looking like a crumpled spider.
7 TRAVEL-FRIENDLY LASH PACKING TIPS
- Use a contact lens case. This is the best hack I've found. Place each lash in its own lens compartment, band-side down. Close it, and your lashes are protected in a hard shell that fits in your palm.
- Wrap them in tissue paper. For extra protection, wrap the lens case in a soft tissue or a clean sock before placing it in your bag.
- Pack a hard-shell lash case. If you have a dedicated lash case, use it. It's worth the extra space in your luggage.
- Use a pill organizer. The larger ones are perfect for lashes. Each compartment fits one pair, and the clear lid lets you see what's inside.
- Keep lash glue in a ziplock bag. Lash glue can leak when the pressure changes during a flight. Put it in a small ziplock bag to protect your other makeup.
- Never pack lashes in checked luggage. Temperature changes in cargo can warp the lash band. Always carry them in your carry-on.
- Bring a backup pair. This isn't about packing — it's about peace of mind. Travel is unpredictable. Having a spare pair means you're covered if one gets damaged.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR LASHES GET CRUSHED
If a lash arrives bent, don't throw it away. Dip it in warm water for 5 seconds, then reshape it with your fingers. Let it air dry completely before wearing. This works for most flexible lash bands.
FAQs ABOUT PACKING LASHES FOR TRIPS
How long can lashes stay in a contact lens case?
Indefinitely, as long as they're dry. Moisture can break down the lash band adhesive, so always dry them completely before storing.
Should I curl my lashes before packing them?
No. Curl them after you apply them. Packing curled lashes can cause them to hold the curled shape permanently.
Can I bring false lashes on a plane?
Yes. They're not restricted. Lash glue is also allowed in carry-on bags as long as it's under 3.4 ounces (100ml).
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A TRAVEL LASH
When you're choosing lashes to take on a trip, consider durability. A flexible, strong band is more important than the style. You also want a lash that holds its shape after being packed flat.
