How to Apply False Lashes on Someone Else

BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE LASH: SET UP YOUR SPACE

You need light, magnification, and a steady surface. Sit opposite your friend or have them sit in a chair while you stand (the angle is way better). Have a pair of tweezers, a lash applicator, and a magnifying mirror ready, plus your lash adhesive and a toothpick for the perfect amount of glue.

THE 6-STEP METHOD FOR APPLYING LASHES ON SOMEONE ELSE

1. Measure and trim: Place the lash along their lash line. If it extends past the outer corner, trim from the outer edge — not the inner edge.
2. Apply a thin line of adhesive: Run a thin line along the band using a toothpick. Let it get tacky for 20 seconds. Thick glue creates lumps.
3. Align the center: Hold the lash by the center and press onto the middle of their lash line. The middle should graze the natural lash root, not sit on the eyelid.
4. Press outward: Move from the center to the outer corner, then from the center to the inner corner. Use the side of tweezers to press down.
5. Look down: Ask them to look down and hold the lash in place with your fingertips for 10 seconds.
6. Blend: Use a clean spoolie to gently push their natural lashes up and through the false lash so both mesh together.

THE 3 MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE (AND HOW TO FIX THEM)

• Flooding the band with glue: Less is more. One thin line is enough. If glue gets in their eye, stop, irrigate, and start over.
• Putting the lash too high: It should sit on the lash line, not on the eyelid skin. If there's a gap, gently press it down with tweezers within 30 seconds.
• Trying to apply without looking down: If your subject is watching you in the mirror, their eyes are moving. Have them close halfway and look down.
