Priya tried to be the kind of person who did it all — skincare, makeup, and those false lashes that looked so good in the tutorial. Her eyes alone got eleven products: primer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, two kinds of lash glue, the lashes, tweezers, a mirror, and a prayer. Getting ready took almost an hour, and by the time she finished, she was already late and her eyes were watering from the glue.
At night, it got worse. She'd do her whole skincare thing — remove makeup, cleanse, tone, moisturize — then stare at her lashes and beg them to survive. They didn't. One eye would start lifting, then she'd have to choose between sleeping in them (gross) or yanking them off (also gross). And on those mornings when the alarm didn't ring and coffee spilled all over her shirt, she had exactly 12 minutes to leave. The lashes went on crooked, the glue got everywhere, and she looked worse than if she'd just skipped them. "I literally had to pick between clean skin and my lashes staying on. It felt like I was failing no matter what," she says.
