Then you move the lash higher, and now it looks like a shelf. The balance is tricky, but it’s doable. In my experience with over 200 monolid clients, the biggest issue isn’t the lash itself. It’s the placement.

STEP-BY-STEP: LASH APPLICATION FOR MONOLID EYES

1. Trim the lash. Measure against your eye and trim from the outer edge. You want the band to stop 2–3mm before the inner corner.
2. Curl your natural lashes. This helps them blend with the false lash. Use a curler for 10 seconds, then move to the outer corner.
3. Apply a thin line of adhesive to the band. Wait 30 seconds until it becomes tacky. This is key. Tacky adhesive grabs the skin better than wet glue.
4. Place the lash on the skin above your natural lashes. This is the biggest difference for monolids. You don’t want it on your lash line. You want it on the lid itself, about 1–2mm above your lashes.
5. Press and hold for 10 seconds. Use your finger or a pair of tweezers. Keep your eye closed.
6. Open your eye slowly. If you see the lash immediately and it doesn’t fold, you’ve got it. If it disappears, move it 1mm higher.
7. Blend with mascara. One coat on your natural lashes is enough. This fuses everything together.

COMMON MISTAKES THAT RUIN THE LOOK

• Placing the lash too low. It’s the #1 mistake. On a monolid, the lash needs to sit above the lash line, not on it.
• Using a lash that’s too long. Longer isn’t better. It just makes the shelf more obvious. Start with 8–10mm.
• Skipping the trim. If the outer corner hangs off your eye, it will droop and fold.
• Using a heavy band. A stiff band won’t move with your lid. It will pop off or look like a stick.
