Beginner Lash Tweezer Skills: Open, Hold, and Place
I once squeezed my new tweezers so hard that I bent the lash into a perfect 90-degree angle. My friend called it "modern art." Not the look I was going for. If you're new to lashes, tweezers can feel like the enemy. But they're actually the secret weapon that will make your lashes look professional — once you learn these three skills.

Your fingers can't grip a lash strip without getting in the way. Tweezers give you precision. They also keep the lash from touching the sticky parts of your eye. And once you get comfortable, placement takes less than 10 seconds per eye.
SKILL #1: OPEN
Hold the lash horizontally with your non-dominant hand. With tweezers in the other hand, gently open the tweezer tips and pick up the lash at the middle of the band. Don't squeeze tight; you're not trying to kill it. A light grip is all you need.
SKILL #2: HOLD
Once you have the lash, hold it like you'd hold a tiny, fragile butterfly. The lash should be horizontal and slightly curved. If it starts to slip, that's okay. Just re-adjust and relax your hand. This skill is about control, not force.
SKILL #3: PLACE
Bring the lash to your eye and rest it on the center of your lash line. Then gently press down the inner and outer corners with the tweezers. The lash should sit directly on top of your natural lashes. No gaps. No lifted corners. Practice this even without lash adhesive, just to get the muscle memory down. So by the time you put it on for real, you're ready.
WHICH TWEEZERS ARE BEST FOR BEGINNERS?
Look for a tweezers with a straight tip and a comfortable grip. Avoid super-sharp pointed tips until you're confident with placement.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY TWEEZERS?
Use a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad, wipe the tips, and let them air dry. That's it.
HOW TO CHOOSE TWEEZER-FRIENDLY LASHES
Before you buy another pair of lashes, ask yourself: does the lash band have a clear, easy-to-grip edge? Is it small enough to control with tweezers without slipping? The best lashes for beginners are the ones that make you feel like a pro from the first try. PHANSTA LASHES has that clean, precise edge — so your tweezers won't slip, and your lash sits exactly where you want it.
