How to Trim False Lashes Perfectly in 3 Steps

• The lash strip should start about 2–3mm from the inner corner of your eye and end at the outer corner. It should not extend past your eye.

STEP 2: TRIM FROM THE OUTER EDGE (NEVER THE INNER CORNER)

This is the rule that changed everything for me: always trim from the outer edge, not the inner edge.

Why? The inner part of the lash is designed to look natural and blend into your eye shape. The outer edge is where lashes are longer anyway, so trimming there keeps the proportions right.

Cut a tiny 2–3mm piece off the outer end. Then re-check. It's better to cut twice and get the fit perfect than to cut once and destroy the lash.

STEP 3: CURVE-TEST BEFORE YOU GLUE (10-SECOND SAVE)

After trimming, do this quick test: wrap the lash band around your finger and hold it for 10 seconds.

If it holds a gentle curve, you're ready to apply. If it stays too straight, gently bend it back and forth a few times. This pre-shaping step ensures the trimmed edge follows the natural curve of your eye instead of jabbing into the corner.

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU TRIM? A QUICK REFERENCE

• If lashes poke the inner corner: trim 1–2mm from the outer edge, then re-check.
• If lashes lift at the outer corner: trim 3–4mm from the outer edge.
• If lashes feel heavy or weigh down your natural lashes: trim 3–4mm or switch to a lighter style.

WHAT YOU NEED TO TRIM LASHES LIKE A PRO

The only tool involved is a sharp pair of small scissors. But not all scissors cut lash bands cleanly. Here's what to look for:

• Small blades (like cuticle scissors) — big scissors are uncontrollable at this scale.
• Sharp, sharp, sharp — blunt scissors crush the band fibers instead of cutting them, which ruins the lash's structural integrity.
