HOW TO APPLY FALSE LASHES STEP BY STEP: PERFECT EVERY TIME

how to apply false lashes step by step: perfect every time

Why do false lashes always look fake on you? Because you're probably skipping the most important steps. I used to slap them on and end up with one corner lifting by noon. After years of practice (and plenty of lash glue battles), I've perfected a step-by-step routine that makes false lashes look like they're yours. Here's how to apply them flawlessly.

WHY DO FALSE LASHES LOOK FAKE ON YOU?

Most people apply false lashes too far above their natural lash line, use too much glue, or skip trimming entirely. The result? Lashes that hover, slide, or look like they're about to take flight. The fix is simple: measure, trim, and place them as close to your natural lash line as possible.

STEP 1: MEASURE AND TRIM YOUR LASHES

Hold the lash strip against your eye. If it extends past your outer corner, trim from the outer edge—never the inner. A good rule of thumb is to leave a 2-3mm gap from the inner corner to prevent poking and lifting.

STEP 2: APPLY ADHESIVE THE RIGHT WAY

Use a thin, even layer of lash glue along the entire band. Wait 30-45 seconds until it becomes tacky. This is the most critical step—if you apply too early, the lash will slide around. If you apply too late, it won't stick.

STEP 3: PLACE THE LASH AS CLOSE TO YOUR NATURAL LASH LINE AS POSSIBLE

Look slightly downward into a mirror. Press the center of the lash onto your lash line, then adjust the inner and outer corners. Use tweezers or your fingers—just make sure your hands are clean and dry.

STEP 4: PRESS, HOLD, AND BLEND

Gently press the lash down for 10-15 seconds, especially the corners. Then, blend your natural lashes with the false ones using a light coat of mascara. This fuses them together and hides the band.

STEP 5: FINISH WITH MASCARA (OR NOT)

If your false lashes are dramatic, you can skip mascara. But for a natural look, a single coat of mascara is magic. It also helps the lashes stay in place all day.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A LASH THAT APPLIES EASILY

The best false lashes have a thin, flexible band that hugs your eye shape without gaps. They should be lightweight, with a natural taper at the ends. And they should come with clear instructions—because even beauty editors need a reminder sometimes.

That's why I love PHANSTA LASHES. Their lashes feature a whisper-thin band and a natural curl that makes application nearly foolproof.
