Why Don't My Lashes Stick in the Inner Corner?
The center of your lash line looks flawless. The outer corner is perfect. But the inner corner? It's lifting, popping, and generally doing its own thing forty minutes into the wedding. You press it down, it stays for a second, and then it springs back up like it's got a mind of its own.

TAKE THE QUIZ →You are not bad at applying lashes. In fact, this is the most common lash complaint I hear — and it has a very specific set of causes. Let me walk you through them.
WHY THE INNER CORNER IS SO PROBLEMATIC
The inner corner of your eye is the hardest place to get a lash to stay because of simple anatomy. This area has a natural curve and a tiny dip near the tear duct. The skin there is also more mobile — you wrinkle it every time you blink, squint, or smile. All that movement puts constant stress on the lash band.
Also, the inner corner produces moisture, which weakens adhesive faster than anywhere else on the eye. So even when you apply a lash perfectly, the inner corner is fighting against gravity, moisture, and movement all at once.
5 REASONS YOUR LASHES WON'T STICK IN THE INNER CORNER
- The lash band is too long. If your lash extends too far into the inner corner, it doesn't have enough contact with your eyelid to bond properly. Trim 2-3 mm from the inner edge and re-apply. I see this more than any other issue.
- You're not waiting for the adhesive to become tacky. Applying a lash with wet adhesive is the #1 rookie mistake. Wet glue shifts and slides. Tacky glue grabs and holds. Wait 30 seconds after applying adhesive to the band, then place the lash.
- The inner corner of the band has too little adhesive. Most people apply adhesive evenly across the band, but the inner corner needs a tiny extra dab. It's a high-movement area and needs a stronger bond.
- Your natural lashes are pushing the falsie up from underneath. If your natural lashes are straight and the false lash is lifted at the inner corner, your real lashes are acting like a lever. Curl your natural lashes first and press the falsie underneath them, not on top.
- The lash band is too stiff. A rigid band doesn't mold to the curve of your inner corner. It sits there like a shelf, then lifts at the first blink. A flexible, thin band conforms to your eye shape naturally.
THE 60-SECOND INNER CORNER FIX
If your inner corner is already popped up right now, here's the rescue:
- Dip a clean cotton swab in water and gently wipe off the underside of the lash band at the inner corner. This removes dust and oil that are breaking the bond.
- Blot the band dry with your fingertip.
- Add a tiny drop of lash adhesive to the inner corner of the band.
- Wait 20 seconds for it to get tacky.
- Press the inner corner down with the side of your finger or flat tweezers, then hold for 15 seconds.
This works in under a minute and will save you more times than you can count.
INNER CORNER LASH QUESTIONS, SOLVED
Why does my lash always lift on one side?
Usually it's because that eye's inner corner shape is slightly more curved, or you're more expressive on that side. Trim the band slightly on that side and consider using a bit more adhesive on the inner corner.
Should I apply lashes before or after mascara?
Apply lashes first, then mascara. Mascara on the band adds weight and repels adhesive — it makes the bond weaker.
How do I hide the inner corner gap if it won't stay down?
Use a dark eyeliner to blend the gap. Apply a thin line along your upper waterline at the inner corner, then press the lash band down. The liner makes the gap invisible even if it's not perfectly flush.
